Global Peace Hut

Global Peace Hut develops community building initiatives in countries where poverty is endemic and violence the norm; where the sense of community has eroded through a multitude of interconnected social problems, including HIV/AIDS. Our current opportunity is in East Africa . Here needs are extremely high and resources almost non-existent. While massive change is required at an institutional level for civil society to advance, lack of it does not preclude a change initiative from having profound and transformative effect on a personal and community level.

Global Peace Hut is invested in planting the seeds of change on a personal and community level. In the process of learning the tools of peacemaking and peacebuilding, people begin to heal from their trauma and interpersonal violence is reduced. What is meant here by violence is the destruction of another human being – physically, psychologically and spiritually.  

People in East Africa have told us they are ready for change. Parents and teachers want to create a different future for the children. They want to create a society where there is a new definition and practice of what it means to be a leader. The time is very good to begin a change initiative with a different focus – one that is empowering of all members of the community; one that inspires people to dream: of becoming peacemakers.
